The Smart City series of lectures span the fundamental ideas, visions and the technologies related to the development of services for the Smart City (or Society) and the Internet of Things. Join us at Goto 10.
There are a multitude of technologies used to connect devices to the Internet. A Smart City does not only need to be able to include all such technologies; it also needs to be able to interconnect them. This lecture presents a broad overview of existing technologies, including what communication patterns are commonly used, and an introduction to different protocols and standards and how they are used to implement each pattern. The lecture presents an effort within the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) to Harmonize these technologies, and create a standard that allows bridging between them, in an open, secure and interoperable manner.
Participants are welcome to join the Smart City Labs as well, where we will experiment with the concepts presented in the lectures in a practical manner. Do you have things you want to get connected? Please bring them along, and I’ll help you connect them.
