Since enacting the GDPR legislation, the EU has undertaken additional activities to address issues in cybersecurity as they relate to personal rights, public safety, national infrastructure, and more.

This discussion will be a focus not on processes and tools, but a detailed discussion as to why the EU are taking these actions and the impact that they will have on the EU and abroad. The discussion will focus on past efforts of the EU, link them to the present actions, and make the case as to why the EU is arguably entering a Digital Decade of activity designed to addressed cybersecurity and information security. We will also use case studies (such as the recent situation with Crowdstrike) to talk about the scope and impact of what the EU is trying to address.
